It’s Time to Tell Trump What We Think

It’s time for Pentecostal and charismatic leaders that are critical to Trump’s bizarre presidency to speak up.

We call upon all sorts of leaders – pastors, scholars, CEOs, politicians, NGO representatives and others – that are part of the Pentecostal-charismatic movement to sign our open letter to president Donald Trump. The letter will be sent to the White House on the anniversary of his inauguration, January 20th.

This is not a partisan letter. Regardless of our political affiliation and opinions, we feel that Trump has taken politics to such extremes that Christians on both the right and the left of the political spectrum together should say “No!”.

The areas we at Pentecostals & Charismatics for Peace & Justice have identified as important to speak up about are:

  1. The demonization of immigrants and minorities;
  2. the reckless nuclear war rhetoric;
  3. the loosening of environmental protection;
  4. the belittling and abuse of women;
  5. the disrespect of indigenous people;
  6. the inequalities between rich and poor; and
  7. the dishonesty and lying.

To read the letter and sign it, go here.

Together, we and the Holy Spirit can change the world.

  1. This is a comment to the letter in question.
    In my opinion the letter was a disgrace. It should be followed-up immediately by an excuse letter.

    The most obvious (ungodly) thing is that there were no encouragement
    whatsoever for what Trump stand for of good things, and have accomplished. No attempt at all to honor president Trump, for:

    his support for the people of Jesus, the Jews, and their nation and history, in an extremely hostile world environment (UN).

    his standing up for the unborn, for which he has just received medal.

    his firm resistance against the NK regime and their holocaust
    camps with 100s of thousands prisoners, many many christians.

    for that he wants to control who comes into the country. I guess you lock your door in the night not by hate but for protection of your love ones.

    many other issues, not the less the economic boost.

    This letter was in my view a shame.

    By the way – as comparison:
    Was there ever a letter sent to Obama when he introduced homosexual marriages, and light-up the White House?

    Or when he betrayed the Jews on Dec 23? A real antichrist like decision in my view

    Or for his support of abortion up to due date (if just the head is still left in the womb)?

    For his many unconstitutional decisions which normally would lead to indictments?

    For his formar homosexual lifestyle? In comparison to what Trump may have said years ago.

    No – my view is this is as partisan as it can get, and a religious, unspiritual initiative. It is not in accordance with Jesus teaching.

    It is obvious that you have not listen to broad sources before your judging of Mr Trump, you have followed left wing media, onesided. I have followed american media for hours every day for a couple of years, that is from where I make this judgement.

    If you find my reply regarding your letter to president Trump a harsh one – I then remind you of how I consider your letter to Mr Trump and his administration.

    Of course I wish you God´s blessings, but I think you and the group behind the letter really have to repent in this matter.

    1. U said a lot but let’s just take one ..the unborn – ok we all hate it .yes it’s TRUE but we fight for the unborn at the same time we fight to take food out of the mouths of 2yrs olds and fight to strip them of their safety nets to exist ..why is it when they become born we fight them to live ?what we do is just as wrong .
      And never in history have we had a life president ever do anything more than say .”‘.let the states decide “..sadly abortion is never going away it’s her bc its majority. So what do we have that works? -our relevance our credibility .& what have we lost by our overlooking the gospels for a political cause? by choosing this candidate we have lost generations and our only chance to change their mind on abortion. Trump cost us bigly ..and we are gonna pay for generations..then we are gonna be questioned about how we let a political agenda take the place of the gospels and jesus .

  2. Trump gives us zero relevance and less credibility when it comes to the youth and evangelism. For many many years we will be seen as hyper hypocrisy who sold out to a political agenda.hope we enjoy what we bought we will be eating this meal for years and generations will be reminding us and one day we will have to give an answer for this support. One the lord will question us about this travesty and he won’t be happy about how we overlooked his word for a political cause
